About Us:
About Prevention in the Pulpit
Prevention in the Pulpit is a faith-centered, community-driven initiative addressing mental health, HIV prevention, and stigma reduction in the Black Church and broader faith community.
We exist to create safe spaces where conversations about mental wellness, sexual health, trauma, and prevention can happen with compassion, cultural understanding, and confidentiality.
This initiative was created to bridge the gap between public health and the pulpit empowering churches to lead boldly in healing the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.
A Program of Quality Comprehensive Health Center
Prevention in the Pulpit is a grant-funded program of Quality Comprehensive Health Center (QCHC), a Charlotte-based nonprofit healthcare organization committed to improving health outcomes in historically underserved communities.
Through federal, state, and private grant support, this program delivers:
-
Evidence-based HIV prevention education
-
Mental health awareness and screening
-
Rapid HIV/STI testing services
-
Linkage to care and treatment navigation
-
Faith-based stigma reduction initiatives
As part of QCHC’s broader mission to provide accessible, culturally competent healthcare, Prevention in the Pulpit ensures that prevention services reach communities in trusted spaces including churches, ministries, and faith gatherings.

Our Mission
To reduce stigma, increase testing, and strengthen linkage to care by partnering with faith communities to deliver prevention education and services in spaces where trust already exists.
Why this matters
In many communities, stigma and misinformation keep people from testing and seeking care. Prevention in the Pulpit creates a safe bridge between faith and public health so families can thrive and communities can heal.
Our values
-
Compassion over condemnation

Truth with love
-
Confidentiality and dignity
